Culinary adventures with Vijay Puri, travelling the world bite-by-bite
I’m on a mission to travel the globe bite by bite—dining at the best restaurants in the world, uncovering hidden culinary gems, visiting remarkable wineries, and popping into the most unforgettable bars along the way. Each stop is a chance to discover something extraordinary, one plate, one glass, one story at a time.
This blog is my way of capturing that journey. It’s a space for stories, reflections, and honest reviews, shaped by firsthand experience and a deep respect for the art of fine dining. I don’t announce my visits in advance, I pay my own way, and I hold restaurants to the same high standards I appreciate as a guest: hospitality, creativity, and care.
Whether it’s a three-star temple of gastronomy, a chef’s hidden gem, or a bold new opening making waves, I’m here to explore what makes a meal truly memorable. That means looking beyond the plate — into the philosophy of the kitchen, the rhythm of the service, the design of the space, and the details that elevate a good meal into an unforgettable one.
This blog is for fellow food lovers, curious travellers, and anyone who sees dining not just as sustenance, but as experience, expression, and connection.
Thanks for coming along for the ride.
About Magnificent Foodies
Welcome to Magnificent Foodies, devoted to exceptional food, wine, and the stories they carry. This isn’t just about luxury or long tasting menus. It’s about curiosity, craft, and the quiet magic that happens when a meal is done with real care.
The focus of the blog is clear: fish and seafood, vegetarian and vegan cuisine, wines with character, and bars with soul. I’m drawn to chefs who rethink ingredients with intelligence and restraint. To dishes that stay with you. To kitchens that value detail and serve food with both imagination and respect. ce should feel honest and alive.
This blog also goes beyond the plate. Wine is a central thread, not just bottles, but also vineyards, winemakers, philosophy, and pairings that elevate a course into something memorable. I write about wines from all over: sparkling rosé from India’s Dindori hills, Pinot Noir from Central Otago, Kabinett Rieslings that glide alongside seafood. Wine isn’t just a pairing—it’s part of the story.
And then there are the bars. From hidden counters in Tokyo to jazz-filled speakeasies in Berlin, I follow drinks that speak of place and care. A perfect negroni. A milk punch clarified to translucence. A single malt poured by someone who respects the pour. These moments belong here too.

Why and how
Why “Magnificent Foodies”?
The name is a mix of sincerity and humour. It’s a wink at the grandeur of fine dining, but also a reminder to stay grounded. “Magnificent” isn’t about excess—it’s about attention to detail, flavour, and memory. “Foodie” speaks to that hunger to explore, taste, and share what you find.
How do I choose where to go?
I do the research. Michelin is often a starting point, but I also consult Gault & Millau, La Liste, the World’s 50 Best, Time Out, local blogs, and trusted recommendations. I book anonymously and pay in full. I confirm dietary fit in advance. If the service is warm, the food thoughtful, and the place tells a story—it earns a place here.
This blog is built on observation, instinct, and joy. Join me: bite by bite, glass by glass, city by city.
Taste: the final frontier.
These are the journeys of a Magnificent Foodie.
A continuing mission:
To explore the world’s most exceptional restaurants,
To seek out bold flavors, rare wines, and forgotten culinary traditions,
To boldly eat and drink where few have gone before.
